Battery

Battery Type Battery Type => Cell phones run on various kinds of batteries depending on the manufacturer, phone size or shape and features. There are basically four types of cell phone batteries => Lithium Polymer, Lithium Ion, Nickel Metal Hydride and Nickel Cadmium. Li-Poly (Lithium Polymer)
Capacity Battery Capacity is a measure (typically in Amp-hr) of the charge stored by the battery, and is determined by the mass of active material contained in the battery. The battery capacity represents the maximum amount of energy that can be extracted from the battery under certain conditions. 4500 mAh
Removable No
Charging 65W wired, 100% in 29 min (advertised)
Wireless Charging Wireless Charging (Inductive Charging) uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two objects. This is usually done with a charging station. Energy is sent through an inductive coupling to an electrical device, which can then use that energy to charge batteries or run the device. No

About the OnePlus 9RT 5G

The OnePlus 9RT 5G is a performance-oriented smartphone from OnePlus, launched in October 2021, designed for users who seek flagship-level speed and features without the high price tag typically associated with flagships. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 5G chipset built on a 5nm process, which offers very capable performance in everyday tasks, gaming, and multitasking. The phone features a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a Full HD+ (1080×2400) resolution, delivering smooth scrolling, vivid colors, and strong brightness. The back-camera setup is led by a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS (optical image stabilisation), paired with a 16MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens; the front camera is 16MP. A 4,500 mAh battery powers the phone, with very fast wired charging (65W Warp Charge) capable of bringing the battery close to full in under 30 minutes. The build is premium, featuring Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and back, and an aluminum frame. Software comes with OxygenOS based on Android 11 initially, and later upgradable to newer versions. The OnePlus 9RT 5G is marketed in multiple RAM/storage variants (8/128 GB, 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB) to suit different user needs.

Main Key Features

  • Processor / Performance: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G (5 nm), LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage.
  • Display: 6.62-inch AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+ support.
  • Cameras: 50MP main (Sony IMX766) with OIS, 16MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro; 16MP front camera.
  • Battery & Charging: 4,500 mAh battery with 65W fast wired charging (Warp Charge).
  • Build & Design: Glass front and back (Gorilla Glass 5), aluminum frame, dual-stereo speakers.
  • Connectivity & Other features: 5G support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, in-display fingerprint sensor, etc.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Premium build quality and attractive finish.
  • Very good main camera performance (especially in well-lit conditions, thanks to IMX766 + OIS).
  • Smooth display experience (120Hz AMOLED) with good responsiveness.
  • Very fast wired charging (65W) reduces charging downtime significantly.
  • Solid performance from Snapdragon 888, still competitive in many demanding tasks.

Cons:

  • Macro lens (2MP) is weak — not very useful in practice.
  • The back panel is slippery, and no IP rating for water/dust resistance.
  • Stereo speaker sound is lopsided — audio balance is not perfect.
  • There is no wireless charging.
  • Software can be “clumsy” in some aspects; users report minor issues or UI bugs.

Why Choose This Phone?

  • High performance without going into the ultra-premium price bracket. The Snapdragon 888 still holds up well.
  • Fast charging and minimal downtime — 65W charger is a serious plus.
  • A reliable main camera with OIS for better photos/videos, especially in low-light or motion situations.
  • A smooth display experience with 120Hz for gaming, scrolling, and media consumption.
  • Good build and design quality — glass + metal, stylish finishes.

Opinion

In my view, the OnePlus 9RT 5G is one of the better “upper mid-range” phones, especially for people who care most about speed, screen smoothness, and fast charging. It doesn’t check every box (no wireless charging, lack of official water/dust protection, some weaker auxiliary cameras), but what it does do, it does well: performance is excellent, the display is nice, the charging is fast, and the main camera is solid. For many users, these trade-offs are acceptable, especially if cost is a factor. If you mostly use your phone indoors, value camera and performance, the 9RT delivers strong value. However, if you want ruggedness, all-weather usage, wireless charging or best macro/zoom photography, then you may want to look elsewhere or at higher-end models.
